Welcome to my Site!

Janet Campbell is fortunate to have the beauty of the farms, mountains and wetlands of the mid-Hudson Valley to inspire her paintings and, more recently, the colorful flora and fawna of the Gulf Coast of Florida in winter. Her watercolors are loose and transparent and her
subjects are varied. She works at keeping the brush wet and letting it do the work. Over time she has developed an affinity for the intriguing results of poured watercolor. Janet enjoys the adventure of plein air painting and regularly participates in plein air adventures in the Hudson Valley and the Gulf Coast of Florida.

"PileUp" received an Award of Excellence at the 2023 Middletown Art Group Annual Show at SUNY Orange in May.
"Out of the Mist" has been accepted into the 2022 American Watercolor Society's 155th Annual International Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in NYC and the NorthEast Watercolor Society's 2022 Annual Int'l Exhibition in Kent, CT
"Cattails at the Bashakill" won the Best of the Bashakill Award at the 2021 Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival in October 2021.
"Orange County Gold" won
Best in Show at the Watercolor Exhibit at the Wallkill River School in September 2021
"After much deliberation I choose “Orange County Gold” for the top honors.
Art is never simply about realistic representation or fine craftsmanship.
Personal expression and the ability to engage the viewer are equally important.

"Water's Edge" won an Honorable Mention Award at the 2021 Members Show at the Wallkill River School

in the Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival 2019 QuickDraw at Monroe Farmer's Market.
Janet's painting "Trail Ferns" won the Best of the BashaKill Award at the 2019 Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival.
"Cubano Cool" was juried into the North East Watercolor Society 2019 International Show.
Janet's painting "Cowfangle" was accepted into the North East Watercolor Society 2018 International Show
Janet was accepted into the Hudson Valley 3rd Annual Plein Air Festival in October 2018.
Janet juried the Watercolor Floral Exhibit at the Wallkill River School in June 2017.
"Rhodies" won an Award of Excellence at the 2016 North East Watercolor Society Members Exhibition and was accepted into the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Annual Open Exhibition at the National Arts Club in NYC.
"Goshen Trotter" won an Award of Excellence at the North East Watercolor Society 2015 Members Show and the Dick Blick Materials Award at the North East Watercolor Society 2015 International Juried Exhibition in Kent, Ct.
